Supernormal 2024

Published: 17/08/24

So with Supernormal 2024 still ringing in our ears and lodged under our fingernails, the weekend seems like five minutes ago... yet also very far away. Mixed feelings in that respect but an overwhelming sense that this edition was a total rager if we say so ourselves.

And if you don’t consider the SN team sufficiently objective observers, rest assured that we’ve been thrilled, flattered, humbled and so forth by the testimonies posted on ‘the socials’. “Inclusive, queer, cute, reflective, adventurous, hardcore and soft” - yep we’ll take that.

To be a bit more, well, reflective about it, efforts to earn these sort of adjectives (especially in regard to inclusivity) are always going to be unfinished business. Supernormal has evolved a whole lot in its 14 years, even while parts of it have been intentionally fixed in place, and we hope that we’re still making the sort of festival its attendees want it to be. At root, it’s conceived as the sort of festival WE would want to go to, and the fact this actually happens - in THIS economy? - is a bit dizzying frankly.

That it all comes together is specifically and eternally attributable to the following: ticket-buyers both long-term and new/curious; vendors, volunteers and build crew who go great guns before and after the weekend itself; the magic workers at site services; The Lubber Fiend and Rebecca at Queef for doing a stellar job running our bars; Smutty Pickles for all the absolutely bananas artwork; programme partners who this year include Queef Qult,  Heart N Soul, Repeater Radio and Colour Out of Space and everyone who comes among to perform or otherwise demonstrate their talents somewhere in a big Oxfordshire field. A disparate set of humans that band together as a community. We also thank Braziers Park for being an inspiration and the host of Supernormal.

We’ll be back with more Supernormal-related updates very soon (join our mailing list) and intend to keep riding that wave of excitement right on to the next one... so sit tight.
