Access Support


What are we looking for?

This role is about making sure that Supernormal is a safe and supportive place for visitors with Disabilities. This role will help the Production and Access team make sure our event is as accessible as we can. You will help in ways such as providing practical event support to visitors with disabilities, this might be helping them navigate the site or programme - for example finding a venue or explaining what time a band is on and will there be strobes. It is also important that you are a friendly and non judgemental person as you will need to be happy to chat to people who might be a bit lonely or a bit lost. You’ll also need to know when to call for support from the Production and Access team as we’re here to help too! 

What skills are needed?

You will need to be used to working with all different types of people, ideally you’ll have some experience working with people who have disabilities and you’ll be a friendly and non judgemental person.

What are the benefits?

You’ll get to help make sure Supernormal is a safe and supportive space, and you’ll gain experience working with the production and access team in event management and customer service.

How many hours will I volunteer? 

3 four-hour shifts, between 10am and 8pm.

Arts Assistant 


What are we looking for?

We are looking for volunteers to help the Arts team during the festival. This role involves, but is not limited to, assisting with managing workshops and the activities area, managing relationships with artists on-site, working with the Production and Arts teams to manage the programme for each day, joining house meetings at Braziers, assisting artists and performers with access needs, checking on safe space areas and assisting with the initial take down of projects at the end of the festival.

What skills are needed?

You will need to be confident in working with lots of different people, including artists, Supernormal teams and Braziers residents. You will need to be practical and self-starting, with a good understanding of access and  health and safety guidelines and the ability to follow these diligently. 

What are the benefits? 

This is a great opportunity to gain experience facilitating a diverse arts program in a festival setting. You will also get to know Braziers house and residents.

When will the role take place?

During the festival (Friday - Monday)

How many hours will I volunteer? 

3 four-hour shifts, between 10am and 6pm.

What else do you need to know? 

You will receive one meal on each day that you work from Supernormal Crew Catering. You must be over 18 for this role. 

 

Bar Staff


What are we looking for?

We are looking for volunteers to assist at the busy bars on site. You will be required to serve drinks to customers, use a card machine and handle cash, tidy and clear down.

What skills are needed?

Bar experience and training on the use of a bank card machine are required. You must be reliable, trustworthy and self-starting. A calm and professional manner is necessary in this busy customer facing role. 

What are the benefits?

You will gain experience in working on a busy outdoor festival bar. You will be part of a lively and friendly team. When possible, we can try to schedule friends to work together in this role.

When will the role take place?

During the festival (Friday - Monday)

How many hours will I volunteer? 

3 four-hour shifts, between 11am and 2am

What else do you need to know? 

You will receive one meal on each day that you work from Supernormal Crew Catering. You must be over 18 for this role.

 

Box Office


What are we looking for?

This role involves greeting festival guests on entry and supporting artist arrivals. You will be helping to manage issue wristbands and making sure all festival guests are logged in. 

What skills are needed?

This can be a busy role so we’re looking for people who enjoy greeting visitors and working in a small team. You’ll need to be friendly and welcoming to all audiences, and happy to answer questions about the festival and site. 


What are the benefits?

You will gain experience with ticketing and festival logistics. You will work with a friendly and tight-knit team. If you like things super busy and the satisfaction of making people happy, this is your role. This role involves using a phone or laptop.

When will the role take place?

During the festival (Friday - Monday)

How many hours will I volunteer? 

3 four-hour shifts, between 9am and 11pm.

What else do you need to know? 

You will receive one meal on each day that you work from Supernormal Crew Catering. You must be over 18 for this role.This role is in the box office tent and can be carried out seated and using a wheelchair. We welcome volunteers with visual impairments in this role. 


Build 


What are we looking for?

We are looking for people to join our build team during the festival. This will involve maintaining and repairing structures, infrastructure, artworks, signage etc. as needed, as the festival is running.

What skills are needed?

You will need to be confident with hand and power tools, with a basic practical knowledge of how things go together. You must be able to problem solve and think on the fly. As you will be working while the festival audience is on-site, you must work safely around all crowds. 

What are the benefits?

This is a real opportunity to learn on the spot skills and techniques in the context of a busy festival.

Catering


What are we looking for?

We are looking for volunteers to support the crew caterers in a small, busy vegetarian kitchen. You will be catering for a wide range of people including volunteers, artists and crew. Your responsibilities will include managing food stocks over the weekend, ensuring that health and safety standards in the kitchen are met and ensuring that food is ready at agreed mealtimes. There are three roles within catering, Head Chef, Sous Chef and Commis Chef.

What skills are needed?

We are particularly interested in hearing from people with chef experience but keen home cooks are also encouraged to apply. You should be confident in the kitchen, cool under pressure and have excellent organisational skills.  You will need to be diligent and hardworking, and able to follow our health and safety guidelines. 

What are the benefits?

You will gain interesting experience in catering at a busy outdoor event, on-site. You will meet almost everyone who works on-site over the weekend! When possible, we can try to schedule friends to work together in this role.

During the festival (Friday - Monday)

How many hours will I volunteer? 

3 four-hour shifts, between 7am and 9pm.

What else do you need to know? 

You will receive one meal on each day that you work from Supernormal Crew Catering. You must be over 18 for this role. 

 

Driver


What are we looking for?

We are looking for volunteer drivers to pick up and drop off artists and make occasional runs throughout the day for errands as needed, enjoying the festival in between. 

What skills are needed?

You will need to have excellent organisational skills and work with a wide range of artists and other Supernormal teams. Volunteers must provide their own vehicle but mileage and fuel will be paid. You must arrive and remain sober for your shift. 

NB: You need a full UK driving licence and required paperwork for your vehicle 

What are the benefits?

You will get to meet lots of artists and learn a lot about festival logistics.

When will the role take place?

During the festival (Friday - Monday)

How many hours will I volunteer? 

You will work on one day during the festival, with hours to be confirmed.

What else do you need to know? 

You will receive one meal each day from Supernormal Crew Catering. You must be over 18 for this role.


Driver Manager


What are we looking for?

We are looking for driver managers to ensure that logistics of pick-ups and drop-offs involving our volunteer drivers are running smoothly. When things aren’t running smoothly we will need you to troubleshoot, escalate and delegate as needed!

What skills are needed?

You will need to have excellent organisational skills and work with a wide range of artists and other Supernormal teams. 

What are the benefits?

You will get to meet lots of artists and learn a lot about festival logistics.

When will the role take place?

During the festival (Friday - Monday)

How many hours will I volunteer? 

You will work two days during the festival, with hours to be confirmed

What else do you need to know? 

You will receive one meal on each day from Supernormal Crew Catering. You must be over 18 for this role. 

 

Fire Steward


What are we looking for?

We are looking for volunteers to make sure that firewood is in-place and well kept, to light and maintain the main evening bonfire and to monitor and ensure the safety of those around it. 

What skills are needed?

You will need to be comfortable working with all audiences as well as other volunteers from stewarding and production, and have an excellent awareness of health and safety

What are the benefits?

You will get to spend your shifts at a key focal point of the festival. When possible, we can try to schedule friends to work together in this role.

When will the role take place?

During the festival (Friday - Monday)

How many hours will I volunteer? 

3 four-hour shifts, between 6pm and 2am.

What else do you need to know? 

You will receive one meal on each day that you work from Supernormal Crew Catering. You must be over 18 for this role. 

 

Merch Tent


What are we looking for?

In this role you will be managing artists merchandise and supernormal merch. You will help  to organise stock, and serve customers using both a card machine and handling cash.

What skills are needed?

You’ll work closely with the Production team and artists.  This role is suited to people who are happy communicating with all of our festival audience and artists, while working in a small team.

What are the benefits?

You will gain experience in customer service, cash handling and card payments. You will work with a small and friendly team. When possible, we can try to schedule friends to work together in this role.

When will the role take place?

During the festival (Friday - Monday)

How many hours will I volunteer? 

3 four-hour shifts, between 10am and 10pm.

What else do you need to know? 

You will receive one meal on each day that you work from Supernormal Crew Catering. You must be over 18 for this role. This role is the Merch tent which is shaded, and can be carried out seated and using a wheelchair. 


Music Tech


What are we looking for?

Music tech volunteers assist the sound crew getting acts and equipment on and off stage on time to ensure the smooth running of performance areas. They will also meet and greet artists, and ensure that people are in the right place at the right time.

What skills are needed?

You will need to be practical and dependable, and able to turn your hand towards lots of different tasks as needed. You will work with lots of different artists, other volunteers and the Supernormal team and we need to be able to be sure that you will be friendly, helpful and polite to everyone - and of course know when to escalate any problems that you come across!

What are the benefits?

You will gain experience in live production at a busy outdoor festival, and work closely with the music team learning about logistics and artist liaison.

When will the role take place?

During the festival (Friday - Monday)

How many hours will I volunteer? 

3 four-hour shifts, between 12pm and 2am.

What else do you need to know? 

You will receive one meal on each day that you work from Supernormal Crew Catering. You must be over 18 for this role.


Production Assistant


What are we looking for?

Assistance with the co-ordination and smooth running of the production tent including helping with audience enquiries, artist liaison and supporting volunteers. 

What skills are needed?

This is a role which works closely with all the Supernormal team so you’ll need to be comfortable answering any and all questions and confident to pass on anything you’re not sure about to the Production leads. 

What are the benefits?

You will be working closely with the production team and will gain experience in the logistics of a busy festival. In the entirely non biased opinion of the Production team this is a brilliant and important role with wildly attractive people. 

When will the role take place?

During the festival (Friday - Monday)

How many hours will I volunteer? 

3 four-hour shifts, between 8am and 9pm.

What else do you need to know? 

You will receive one meal on each day that you work from Supernormal Crew Catering. You must be over 18 for this role. This role is based in the production tent which is under shade and can be carried out seated or using a wheelchair. 


Runner 


What are we looking for?

We are looking for volunteers to provide vital assistance to the site crew and production team doing a variety of general organisational tasks and odd jobs around the site. Tasks will include setting up areas and workshops, sign painting, fetching and carrying and generally being ready to help. 

What skills are needed?

You will need to be adaptable and confident in giving lots of different tasks a go. You will need to work alongside various Supernormal teams, other volunteers, artists and public on-site so must be friendly, This is a great job for someone who likes to get stuck in and problem solve proactively.

What are the benefits? 

You will get to interact with lots of people and teams across the weekend, and get practical experience in how the festival works. When possible, we can try to schedule friends to work together in this role.

When will the role take place?

During the festival (Friday - Monday)

How many hours will I volunteer? 

3 four-hour shifts, between 10am and 11pm.

What else do you need to know? 

You will receive one meal on each day that you work from Supernormal Crew Catering. You must be over 18 for this role.

 

Shower Attendant


What are we looking for?

We are looking for volunteers to maintain the wood store for the shower burners, to light these in good time to ensure hot water at busy times in the morning and evening and to monitor the shower queues and flag issues to production and stewards. 

What skills are needed?

You will need to be responsible and comfortable working with all audiences and other volunteers.

What are the benefits?

This is a role away from the busiest parts of the festival. 

When will the role take place?

During the festival (Friday - Monday)

How many hours will I volunteer? 

3 four-hour shifts, between 8am and 4pm.

What else do you need to know? 

You will receive one meal on each day that you work from Supernormal Crew Catering. 


Steward


What are we looking for?

We are looking for volunteers to help make sure that Supernormal runs smoothly. You’ll volunteer with the Production team and look after areas including the campsite and stage venues. You will monitor and help to make sure that the festival audience is safe, and report any concerns to the Production team. 

What skills are needed?

You’ll need to be happy volunteering with all audiences, and follow our guidelines around safeguarding and access. You must be confident in flagging any issues that you come across and asking for help from appropriate people as needed.

What are the benefits?

This is a great role for those who like to wander and get involved. You will work in a small team so if friends want to volunteer together, we can try to facilitate this to the best of our ability. We’ll give you a radio, training, a hi vis and if it’s as hot as 2022 water bottle spritzers so you can go around misting the audience as you go! (with consent, always with consent).

How many hours will I volunteer? 

3 four-hour shifts, between 10am and midnight.

What else do you need to know? 

You will receive one meal on each day that you work from Supernormal Crew Catering. You must be over 18 for this role.


Toilet Assistant


What are we looking for?

We are looking for attendants to manage the toilets around the site - mostly eco-friendly compost loos. You will need to re-stock, clean, and tidy, as well as make sure that the water points are clean, safe and functioning. 

What skills are needed?

This is an active role that requires taking a wheelbarrow on a full loop of the site. You will need to be confident in redirecting audience members to other toilets as you clean a block. All cleaning equipment and PPE are provided! 

What are the benefits?

This is a great role if you don’t want to be customer-facing. As you work in pairs, it’s a good opportunity to work with a friend and chat as you go around and you get to push a wheelbarrow, fun! When possible, we can try to schedule friends to work together in this role. This role will also make you really popular as you’re looking after probably the most important space at the festival.
